SOUL DOULA

The journey of transformation in life is a cycle of constant change with mini deaths and rebirths that enable us to grow as human beings. Living and dying are intertwined with our souls. Chrystalla has 30 years experience guiding people through some of these many changes. GodUs Sanctuary provides soul-led support to those who want balance, love, peace in life and growth by way of various healing means.

This includes:
∙ A deepening to learn and how to release that which no longer serves
∙ Learning acceptance
∙ Forgiveness and balance in one’s life
∙ Receive energy healing through Reiki
∙ Reflective, expansive conversation, drumming, and meditation

Chrystalla would be an asset to anyone who uses her services. She’s kind, compassionate, patient, inclusive and dependable. After I had surgery she voluntarily went the extra mile to make sure my needs were looked after. She works for me as a personal care attendant and she has never let me down. I highly recommend her.

Chrystalla has walked with me through the darkest times in my life. she has been a constant being of light, acceptance and pure love. She has given me beacons of light in the darkness for me to follow and achieve my own understanding. I am eternally grateful.

END OF LIFE DOULA

We are born to live through this fundamental experience we call life. As we live, parts of us are dying all the time through personal loss of many kinds (i.e. loss of a loved one, divorce, friendship, income and other). So too, our body will die as well. Our approach at GodUs Sanctuary is soul-centric in the provision of service. As a doula we aid people by seeing and honouring the whole person who is living with a life threatening illness and who is facing the end of life. In this stage of life, GodUs Sanctuary will:

∙ Help midwife a person and their soul to find balance, peace and heal beyond the circle of life into creation's space called death
∙ Provide emotional, physical, mental, spiritual and some practical support to individuals facing death
∙ Offer active, compassionate listening to an individual who may experience a myriad of feelings ∙ embrace all people with sensitivity, respect and kindness; we can also assist with finding resources and advocating on behalf of clients
∙ Help people approach difficult conversations about end-of-life needs and desires and provide guidance related to other medical services (ie. do-not-resuscitate orders, healthcare, power of attorney etc.)
∙ Support family members and caregivers. This can be in the form of guidance, emotional support or helping to soothe the spirit as loved ones grieve.
∙ Provide some physical assistance, comfort, relief and relaxation through Reiki.
∙ Offer respite to caregivers as well as relief to the client through creating meditations and rituals specific to a person’s religious faith or spirituality
∙ Provide hand and feet massages, drumming, blessings or other possible resources that are available as well as education about death and the dying process.
∙ Sit vigil with a person as they near their final moments
∙ Provide supplemental grief support and companionship after someone has died

I was honoured to meet Chrystalla Chew in 2019 when my brother was receiving palliative care. I had no idea at that time the significance of that meeting and that she would have such a profound impact on me and my family over the next couple of years. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated her kindness as she was consistently checking in with us, visiting with us, providing guidance, advice and encouragement. Chrystalla was by our side during the illness and death of my both my brother and then my sister. She was with us every step of the way, supporting us to ensure that my siblings had the quality of life they deserved. She was instrumental in preparing us for their eventual passing, and in the case of my brother, dying at home. Chrystalla attended our home when no one else would, as it was during the COVID pandemic, to help me and my mother say goodbye and prepare my brother's body before he left with the funeral home staff. Thanks to her, it was a moving, beautiful and memorable send off. Chyrstalla is genuinely caring and has been an invaluable advocate. She was so encouraging and supportive, I felt like I had a warm blanket around me at all times. Chrystalla’s tireless commitment to families like ours has a measurable impact in the lives of those who need her. She walked with us, shoulder to shoulder, during the most difficult time of our lives.
